The Planning Commission is composed of five members appointed by the City Council to serve staggered four-year terms. The Commission holds a regular meeting on the second Tuesday of each month at 6:30 p.m., and any additional special meetings as required. Meetings are held in the Long Lake City Hall Council Chambers.
This body has the following scope of responsibility in making recommendations to the Long Lake City Council:
- Acts as the City’s planning agency in accordance with Minnesota Statutes, and in this capacity formulates and recommends to the City Council a long-term Comprehensive Plan for development within the City.
- Hold hearings to consider amendments to the Comprehensive Plan and the Zoning Ordinance prior to submitting a recommendation to the City Council.
- Holds public hearings to review and make recommendations to the City Council on development proposals, rezonings, subdivisions, conditional use permits, and variances.
- Reviews Site and Building Plans to ensure conformance with City regulations.
- Makes careful and comprehensive surveys and studies of the present conditions and prospective future growth of the territory under its jurisdiction.
